Some language resources
We live in very exciting times. Authors and practitioners used to have rows of dictionaries, which they would need to refer to often.
Among others, we now have Word, with its language preferences as well as its Spelling and Grammar, Track Changes, and Search/Find functions. We also have search engines. These tools are very powerful and right at our fingertips.
We have reason to be grateful for them. Please use them.
I strongly recommend:
Stephen King’s On writing: A memoir of the craft.
Steven Pinker’s The sense of style: The thinking person’s guide to writing in the 21st century.
Stanley Fish’s How to write a sentence and how to read one.
